Carter Fold, Hiltons, VA on May 29, 2004

Another terrific show from Marty and His Fabulous Superlatives in the beautiful valley of Hiltons, Virginia at the historic Carter Fold!! Marty is always so relaxed when he performs at the Fold! As usual Janette Carter does not allow any electric instruments - so the only person plugged in was Brian Glenn on bass! I did not write down the song list, because alot of it was on the fly. I know they sang "Too Much Month (At The End of the Money)", "The Whiskey Ain't Working," "Farmer's Blues," "High on a Mountain Top" (awesome), "Tempted," "Dark Bird" (Johnny Cash tribute), several Carter Family and gospel songs. And, by the way, have you ever heard "Hillbilly Rock" played with a mandolin?!?!?!? Special guests were Connie Smith, John Carter Cash and his wife Laura (plays fiddle), Carlene Carter (sounded just like her mother). John Carter Cash's daughter Anna Maybelle (about 3 years old) was the light of Marty's eyes!! At one point, she was on stage dancing and bouncing up and down - next thing we knew Marty and the band were bouncing up and down with her. Soooo cute and, of course, Marty said she must of been in Joe Carter's stash in his truck!! The show lasted about 2-1/2 hours and then everyone stayed and signed autographs.

Great show - beautiful music with amazing harmony vocals!!!
