Missouri State Fair Grandstand - Sedalia, MO on August 18, 1999

Marty was terrific as always!!!!! His hair was long. Remember, I haven't seen him since the Fan Club Party. Hopefully Tami K. can give some details, too. I can tell you that he opened for George Jones. He started with "High On A Mountain Top." I can give you the list he sang, but they might not be in order:

"The Whiskey Ain't Workin'," "Blue Train," " Dark As A Dungeon" (love that song), "Tempted," "Burn Me Down," "Sometime's The Pleasure's Worth The Pain," "Red, Red Wine and Cheatin' Songs," "Hobo's Prayer," and "Hillbilly Rock." His encore was "The Pilgrim" song. He and Brad played the guitars for a solo. When he returned for the encore, he started singing "He Stopped Loving Her Today" chorus. When he sang "Hobo's Prayer," he told the story he always tells with it.

When it was time for the Meet'n'Greet, I was very disappointed that only about 45 people were in line. But they were signing up members at the Marty merchandise booth if any one wanted to join and go back stage last night. Marty wore black jeans and that long black sleeve buttoned shirt he always wears. And was he ever sweaty!!!!! I got lost in that!!!!! I still am thinking about that. Hey, when I got a big bear hug from him, all I could smell was Marty, his sweat!!!!! He was soaking wet with sweat.

I got the other new photo with the purple jacket. Wow, what a photo, and a new key-chain. He signed four things for me. The 2 newsletters with my photo in it with him, the new 8x10 photo, and a 5x7 photo I took at the Fan Club Party '99. As I said I got a big bear hug, the biggest. I told him that Joey (my husband) and the other friends that came drove 7 hours for me to see him. He said, "Well thank you for being here." I gave him a gift, it was a little brown monkey, (I gave Mike a black one), plus some suckers for all of them to eat on the tours. He said, "Thanks Evelyn" and I was sorta shocked at him saying my name. I told him I loved him, and he said "I Love You, too!" I gave Mike a license plate that had a donkey on it and it says I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC, for Gregg. He said he would see he got it.
