Washington County Fair - Wyoming, RI on August 14, 1999

Happy Hillbilly Day, everybody!

I just thought I'd give you a report on the two shows in Rhode Island on August 14. Here's the list for the first show:

Rocket Ship
Whiskey Ain't Workin'
Buckaroo (a really cool instrumental song!
Tempted
Blue Train
Burn Me Down
Oh, What A Silent Night
Sometime's The Pleasure's Worth The Pain
Hobo's Prayer
Hillbilly Rock

Encore was Now That's Country and Western Girls.

During this show, Marty made a reference to the day being Connie's Birthday. (He also told us how old she was -- I'm not supposed to tell you what he said:)!) He also made reference to a national airline needing new planes (his flight must have been delayed.) He also joked about possibly having fleas because he started to scratch his head, then he started to scratch elsewhere.....

The second show was as follows:

Country Girls
Whiskey Ain't Workin'
Tempted
Blue Train
Are You Ready For The Country
Dark As A Dungeon (what a breathtaking song --)
Burn Me Down
Red, Red Wine and Cheatin' Songs
Hobo's Prayer
Long Black Veil
Soldier's Joy (he and Brad make that look so easy!
Rocket Ship
Hillbilly Rock

ENCORE -- The Pilgrim and Hey Baby....

One thing I can say about Marty -- he could conduct a clinic on how to put on a country show. He makes it seem so effortless.

I told him at the meet and greet that I was very proud of his new album. He smiled and said he was glad I liked it...(what's not to like?

Anyway, can't wait to see Marty again in September !!!!
