Meeting Life's Goals

You must have goals to achieve in life or life will get mighty boring. That's the simple philosophy of dynamic performer Marty Stuart, who is continually setting new challenges for himself. Marty was shocked one day when he found a list of goals he had made for himself while he was in the sixth grade. Incredibly, he had attained every goal on the list.

Marty tells the Country Music Association newsletter Close Up that this gave him an empty feeling. He added: "I thought, 'What in the world am I going to do now?' It's taken me about a year to figure out a new set of goals." Marty confesses, "I've always worked off of lists." So what's on his latest list? "Superstar, Worldwide superstar. Get that going. Carrying the ball for country music," he says. "On my list is to be a part of taking the Grand Ole Opry into the 21st century looking good ..... seeing Nashville grow.
