Stuart Compiled Mandolin Medley For Funeral

This appeared in the Clarion Ledger - August 6, 2007

Q: Dear Jack Sunn, could you tell me the name of the song that Marty Stuart played/sang at Gov. Kirk Fordice's funeral? - Lucille

A: Jack sought help from Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson.

They found the program which shows Stuart played a mandolin medley at funeral in 2004.

Folks in Stuart's office sent word that he compiled the music just for the funeral, centering it around Ashokan's Farewell by Jay Ungar.

You may also remember that while governor, Fordice presented Stuart, a Mississippi native, with the 1999 Artist's Achievement Award from the Mississippi Arts Commission and Governor's Office.
