Eddy Arnold Knew Value Of A Dollar

This appeared in The Tennessean - May 12, 2008

Singer/producer Marty Stuart recalls a conversation he had last year with Eddy Arnold, who died on Thursday. After Marty photographed Eddy at the legend's Brentwood office for a book Marty was working on, Eddy walked Marty out to his car.

"He said, 'Oh, you drive a Cadillac.' He pointed to his little car and said, ' I drive a Buick.' I said, 'But the difference is, you own the entire Buick company and I rent my Cadillac." He was very gracious. He put me in my car, shook my hand and then patted me on the head and said, 'Be sure to save your money, young man.' That is why he owned Brentwood."
