A Master At The Ryman

This appeared in The Tennessean - July 24, 2003

Suddenly Marty Stuart is everywhere. After his last country record for MCA a few years ago, the brilliant concept album The Pilgrim, the colorful hillbilly renaissance man slowed down a bit. He worked on film scores and played small-town gigs where he reconnected with music and himself.

Now, he's back with a new album on Sony Nashville (simply and proudly called Country Music). He's touring with Merle Haggard. And tonight, he brings his superlative bluegrass chops to the Ryman Auditorium for the last of the summer's high lonesome shows.
