And today's very special guest, Grand Ole Opry star, Ricky Skaggs. Join us now for 30 minutes of fun and great country music. I'm your announcer Eddie Stubbs. Now how 'bout a Superlative welcome for our host, the nomad of Neshoba County himself, here is Marty Stuart." Marty said, "You the best in the world, Eddie Stubbs. That's right." Marty and His Fabulous Superlatives performed "Country Boy Rock And Roll."

Marty said, "Superlatives, the 'Country Boy Rock And Roll' had it comin' right down the line. Cous, you did a good job, you did a good job, Cousin Kenny. Yes. This gentlemen that comes by to see us today, been waitin' a long time for him to pay us a visit. He stays busy. For two years, I've been wantin' him to come say 'hello' and he finally did today. A true American master, one of my best friends, one of the all time greats in country music. How 'bout a hand for Mr. Ricky Skaggs, everybody. Hello Rick." Ricky said, "Hello Brother." Marty continued, "It is all yours. Do it your way, do it your way." Ricky said, "We're doin' a few songs here from a CD that I did as a tribute to my dad. If it hadn't been for my dad, I probably would have quit playin' a long, long time ago. But he loved ole time country music and he taught me a bunch of great old songs like this one right here from Red Foley. This is called 'Foggy River'."

Marty said, "All right." Ricky said, "Good job, boys." Marty said, "That's the way the 'Foggy River' sounds right there." Ricky said, "Thank you, son." Marty said, "Mighty fine, Mr. Skaggs." Eddie Stubbs said, "Fellow right there that really put country back into country music at a time when it surely needed it. Ricky Skaggs. Great job, Ricky." Eddie promoted the two DVD set of highlights from the first season of The Marty Stuart Show. After a commercial break, Marty said, "Welcome back, everybody. Hey look over there, Superlatives. A country music essential on the hay bale. How 'bout a hand for Mr. Skaggs. Right under Lester and Earl. Looking good. See. And speakin' of Lester and Earl, if you'll look on the front row, there's a pretty silver-haired lady. That's my mama and sittin' right next to her is Lester Flatt's wife Gladys and Lester's granddaughter Tammy. Welcome, Gladys. She fed me when I first came to Nashville before my mama and daddy got up here. Ladies and gentlemen, here she comes. Out of chute number one, one of the greatest of all time. Here she comes, Skaggs. How 'bout a hand for the great Connie Smith, everybody. Come here, Constance." Connie performed "Just One Time."

Marty said, "All right, Constance. That's a good job there." Marty and His Fabulous Superlatives performed "Hard Working Man."

Eddie promoted Marty's book of photographs, Country Music: The Masters. After a commercial break, Marty said, "Superlatives, we must send a Superlative how-do-you-do to our friend. Talkin' about Mr. Greg Harkins. Handsome Harry, the official Presidential chair maker." Handsome Harry said, "Is that right." Marty continued, "That's right. People travel to Vaughn, Mississippi from all over the world. That's right, Cous. Right down the road from Martin and Stinson, Mississippi to get in line and order a world-class rockin' chair by Mr. Greg Harkins. How 'bout a hand for ole Greg down there. Yeah. Yes, yes, yes. Speakin' of world-class rockers, here he is. The Sultan of Goodlettsville, the most popular man in country music, Skaggs, here he comes. The ole Tennessee Slicker. How 'bout a hand for Leroy Troy, everybody. Well, here he comes. Hello buddy boy."

Leroy: "I tell ya what. I have got a real tear jerker for y'all tonight."

Marty: "Come on."

Leroy: "I do."

Marty: "Well, yeah."

Leroy: "You people sittin' at home...."

Marty: "Yeah."

Leroy: "Have your paper towels ready. You gonna be sad."

Marty: "Gonna be a big'un."

Leroy: "Yeah. One called 'Please Come Back Little Pal'."

Marty: "Come on."

Marty continued to throw out remarks during the entire song.

Marty said, "Oh yes. People are cryin' everywhere." Eddie Stubbs said, "We love old time music here on The Marty Stuart Show as we declare hymn time this week, we're gonna call on Marty and Ricky Skaggs to team up the old time way with just the guitar and mandolin as they render 'Sinner You Better Get Ready'."

After a commercial break, Eddie Stubbs promoted the Superlatone Store. Eddie said, "Well, it has been a country music show today and we're about to hear a shuffle. Hark. Here to tell ya all about it is Marty Stuart." Marty said, "Mr. Skaggs." Ricky said, "Yes sir, brother." Marty continued, "Thank you for comin' by." Ricky said, "Thank you, Marty. I love you, boy." Marty said, "I love you, too. Eddie Stubbs said somethin' that bears a lot of importance. In the early 80's when country music, everybody thought it was gone, especially for folks of our generation, you stepped up and saved it. And you could have quit then but you just kept goin'. You've done the same for bluegrass. And I can't wait to see what you've got next, but I appreciate ya. You're my favorite." Ricky said, "I appreciate you, boy." Marty said, "I love you very much. Mr. Skaggs, ladies and gentlemen. True statesman, true master." Ricky said, "Thank you, Marty." Marty said, "Why don't you show 'em what he was talkin' about." Ricky said, "Well, let's do a Ray Price tune." Marty said, "That's a good one." Ricky said, "I've Got A New Heartache." Marty said, "That was a big'un."

Marty said, "On behalf of Ricky Skaggs, playin' that country music, country music, Connie Smith, Leroy Troy, Gary Carter, The Superlatives and Mr. Eddie Stubbs, I'm Marty Stuart sayin' thank you for joinin' us. We'll see you again next week right here on The Marty Stuart Show. Come on back. Go Skaggs."
