Waking Up in Reno Starring Billy Bob Thornton and Patrick Swayze. Had limited release in 2003
Daddy & Them Starring Billy Bob Thornton and Laura Dern. Marty was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for the soundtrack. Aired on Showtime in 2003
Yellow Bird Short film produced by Faye Dunaway. Scored the soundtrack. Aired on the Women's Entertainment Network in April 2002
The Hi-Lo Country Produced the soundtrack album. Movie was released in 1998


Books


In 1999, Rutledge Hill Press published a book of Marty's photographs called Pilgrims: sinners, saints and prophets. The book sold out its first printing within two weeks. The book also features stories and prose written by Marty.
In 2007, Marty self-published Country Music: The Masters, featuring more than 300 pages of color and black and white photographs of the great country music performers, past and present, Marty has taken over the years. Chicago's Source Books released the book on November 11, 2008. The book includes an audio CD and video featuring Marty's tribute to Johnny Cash: "Dark Bird."
In 2014, the Frist Center for the Performing Arts published American Ballads: The Photographs of Marty Stuart featuring three distinct sections: The Masters, featuring photos of the legends of country music; Blue Line Hotshots, featuring photographs of interesting people Marty's met along the way; and Badlands featuring photographs of the Lakota tribe.


Plays

Marty wrote the music and lyrics for the play "Moon Shine!". The musical comedy was written by Mary Willard and is about three brothers who will inherit a large sum of money from their father provided they find three women to marry that are approved by the boys' mother (1997). The play, starring Mary's husband Fred, finally opened at the Grove Theater in Upland, California running from May 1 - 23, 2004. The play also opened in Chicago in August 2007.


Million-air Club

The Million-air Club is special recognition of a song achieving a million U.S. radio and TV performances. One million performances is the equivalent of approximately 50,000 broadcast hours, or more than 5.7 years of continuous airplay. Marty has a few songs in this exclusive and very special club. If you know Marty, then you know music is his first love. The acting bug has not bit him yet, but he has made a couple of appearances on the TV and movie screens.

Tom Sawyer Marty is the voice of Brother Ram in this animated movie set for this video released in the year 2000. Marty also performs on the soundtrack album. (1999)
The Hi-Lo Country Marty has a bit part in this movie and also produced several songs on a soundtrack of songs inspired by the movie. He performed "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke (That Cigarette)". (1999)
Fire Down Below Marty and his Rock & Roll Cowboy Band got to perform the song "Give Me Back My Heart" and Marty may have had one line of dialogue. The movie premiered in Nashville and starred Steven Seagal. (1997)

The Music Of The Wild West

Marty portrayed a miner in this TNN special that was conceived by singer John McEuen who starred in this unique story with his son Jonathan. Marty had a few lines of dialogue and was almost unrecognizable in his character. (1993)
